Art From the Heart of Coopersville Area Public Schools
Art From the Heart of C.A.P.S. is a program designed to recognize young artists and heighten community awareness of Coopersville studentsĖ talents. Students are the "heart" of Coopersville Area Public Schools and this program provides works of art from the students to be leased for a period of one year. Coopersville Area Public Schools and the Northeast Ottawa District Library sponsor this program with the funding of area business owners and patrons who lease the art.
Almost 300 pieces of art were submitted for adjudication in May of 2003 and only 23 pieces were selected for this yearĖs program. The art has been professionally matted and framed at Gallery 293. The art will be on exhibit at the Northeast Ottawa District Library for the month of September. During the September exhibit time, silent bidding will take place with a minimum bid of $120.00 per piece. On October 2, 2003 there will be a reception at the library in honor of the student artists. The artists will meet the patron who leased their work at which time the patron will take the art to display in a place of business in the community. In October of 2004, the students will have their art returned to them.
The money generated from the leasing portion of this program is used to fund the next yearĖs cost of matting, framing, postage, printing of flyers and invitations, and for the reception. Thanks to the generous bids of last yearĖs patrons, we were able to increase the number of student artistĖs works this year. We look forward to many bids this coming September. These bids will successfully fund the 2004 program and will once again recognize the talent of our students.
